Introduction

These projects were conducted whilst undertaking the Master of Design (Multimedia Design). The aim of the project is to investigate new ways of developing user research methods about audience experience. The context of the following experience design aimed to also engage the audiences in the survey through participation. Specifically audiences were asked to contribute through their participation to their response of a public space such as a museum and or exhibition.

My response to this problem is to focus on visualisation and specifically information visualization and installation design built by Processing. I have found concluded that giving the audiences the chance to be involve in or participate in the process of creating information visualization is the key to the design problem as well as learning more about the audience experience.

01. Interactive survey idea - Plant your flower

In this application, participants can plant their own flower according to answering the questions that were asked. The petals of the flower show the degree of satisfaction and the point of evaluation that participants marked according to their experience of the certain aspect of the exhibition dynamics..

The participants can interact with the input from others evaluations and if there is none the participants interaction in this application
shows the given information according to the random time.

  • Screengrap : main visual with Survey GUI

The Survey GUI is activated when participants press start button. In this GUI, a participant can evaluate and judge the questions we ask. Especially evident is the diverse petal shape constructs driven by the participants responses.

02. Interactive survey idea - Space collision

In this application, participants can participate in creating the experimental visuals by specifically answering the question about spatial issues, such as distance with others, lightness, floor softness. All the information from participant input determines the velocity, initiated direction, and magnitude of a dot on the screen. The experimental visual is the result of the combination of collision points among dots. There are six different algorithms to draw these visuals.

03. Interactive survey idea - Where do you feel?

In this application, participants can point out which parts of body are related with audio, visual and spatial sensations. Even though the application has a very simple way of gathering user information, it produces simultaneously the valuable visual result of the pattern and the differentiation of sensations selected by various participants.
